Nurse Assistant at Rehabilitation Facility Charged with Abusing a Patient with a Broken Leg

A Certified Nursing Assistant (“CNA”) at a rehabilitation facility was arrested and charged with abusing an elderly person in her care. According to the arrest report, the CNA held the patient down against his will in an effort to change his diaper. The patient had a broken leg and reported that the CNA applied pressure to his leg for several minutes. The patient also reported that the CNA would laugh out when he cried in pain.

In addition to criminal charges, the employee also violated the rehabilitation facility’s policy about holding patients down against their will. The facility policy states to “immediately stop any aid once a patient resists in any form, or tells them to stop.” For more, read the story.
