A former nurse charged with overmedicating residents at a long term care center where there were six suspicious patient deaths admitted this week she gave one patient a drug he had never been prescribed.
The woman, who has been described as the “Angel of Death” by a co-worker — faces up to three years in prison after pleading guilty to felony criminal neglect. Authorities began investigating the nursing home in 2006 following reports of six unusual patient deaths involving morphine overdoses.
In pleading guilty to criminal neglect, the 60-year-old nurse admitted giving Ativan (an anti-anxiety medication) to an agitated male patient, even though he had not been prescribed that drug. That patient fell several hours later sustaining a head injury. For more, read the story.
