Nursing Home Abuse And Neglect Of Pressure Ulcers Leads To Exposure Of Backbone

A jury awarded $1.2 million for a nursing home case involving neglect and pressure ulcers. The pressure ulcers were present upon adminssion and left untreated. The patient's backbone was ultimately exposed. The patient was sent to the hospital for wound care and the hospital staff became emotional upon sight of it. 

“She had gone to the nursing home for wound care treatment and they horribly neglected her,” said one of the family's attorneys. “What makes this egregious is they knew she had sores and she was not seen by a doctor at the nursing home.” The patient was left with an open wound that after two yeasr remains open.
