Nursing Home Abuse Investigation Receives Slow Response Time

State surveyors are showing slow response time in investigating complaints of abuse involving imminent risk of serious injury or death. The standard protocol for the state is to respond within two business days. However, the response time has been following closer to 15 business days or more to investigate these claims. 

The state is blaming the slow response on high turnover and low pay. There is a backlog of 140 complaints currently. For more, read the story
