A nursing home employee has been sentenced for punching an 87-year-old patient in the face causing multiple fractures. The employee pleaded guilty to second-degree endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person or an incompetent of physically disabled person. She was sentenced to 4 months in prison and 5 years of probation.
“Nursing home residents and their loved ones deserve the peace of mind of knowing that residents will receive the best care possible, and will be treated with the utmost respect. To physically assault an elderly resident is utterly reprehensible. This sentence sends the message that nursing home staffers who endanger the welfare of those in their care will be held accountable,” said the attorney general. For more, read the story.
