Nursing Home Advocate Criticizes State Health Department For Failing To Cite Facility for “Deplorable” Conditions

A nursing home advocate has taken issue with a recent investigation of a nursing home by Oklahoma's state health department, alleging serious flaws in their report.

“This is insane. This is unacceptable,” said Wes Bledsoe, CEO of 'A Perfect Cause.' “These are human beings. They are suffering human rights violations. These are crimes against humanity.”

Bledsoe said residents of the facility described their concerns and he visited the facility. He described “deplorable” conditions.

A former nurse at the center who said she left due to understaffing supported Bledsoe's description of the conditions. “Those pictures are something I’ve seen since January 2017,” she said. “There was a sewage leak that wasn’t repaired for two weeks to a month. The smell was hideous. It was horrible. In a vent for the air conditioning, there were bird nests. A lot of times, my other weekend nurses and I would have to clean up bird mess from the vents.” For more, read the story.
