Nursing Home Aide Convicted of Stealing Money from 100-Year-Old Resident with Dementia

A former nursing home worker plead no contest last week to charges of obtaining goods by false pretenses after stealing thousands from an elderly dementia patient. The woman stole money from the 100-year-old victim to pay for credit card and cable bills. She also forged checks totaling $7,200.

The 34-year-old former certified nursing assistant could serve up to 10 years in prison and be required to pay $13,000 in restitution. An individual working with a guardianship program discovered the suspicious charges on the victim’s bank records. The employee, who had worked at the facility since 2009, resigned after the allegations surfaced. For more, read the story
