A nursing home patient has died after developing infected wounds in his face. The patient was sent to the hospital with facial wounds that had 50 or so maggots in them. The hospital was shocked and sent a complaint to authorities questioning the patient's treatment at the nursing home.
An investigation determined that the nursing home failed to 'meet expected outcomes' in treating the patient's skin. The nursing home defended its treatment saying that maggots were helpful in treating infection. For more, read the story.
