Nursing Home Bills Proposed To Increase Fines, Training and Inspections

Ten new bills are being brought to state representatives to increase nursing home care standards. The bills involve increased fines, additional staff training, and more rights for residents of assisted living homes. The bills are a response to nursing home problems reported in the state last year.

The fines proposed in the bills would increase from $150 to $15,000 for incidents leading to the death of assisted living residents. The staff training would be more in-depth. There was also a proposal to increase home inspections from once every five years to once every year. For more, read the story.
