Nursing Home Camera Approved By State

The family of a nursing home patient received backing from the state health department for installing a camera in their loved one's room. Camera footage of the patient's care revealed cause for concern, leading to a complaint filed with the state health department. The facility staff tried to cover the camera to prevent recording footage. 

The state health department ruled for the family in favor of using the camera. A state ombudsman commented, “This [case] is hopeful because it sends a nice, powerful message to the public that it's OK to put a camera in a room.” For more, read the story
