Nursing Home Cameras To Monitor

Hidden cameras in nursing homes are gaining in popularity as families find the benefit they offer to keeping an eye on their family when they are not able to be present. They also believe it keeps family members safe in the long run. “What we know … is that the use of cameras can be a deterrent,” said a proponent of the cameras. “If someone realizes there is camera surveillance, it may stifle the urge to abuse.”

One family was shocked and disturbed to find the treatment their loved one experienced. “We wanted two things when we moved our mom. We wanted her to be safe and we wanted her to be loved. That was it,” said a family member, as tears filled her eyes. “We now know that our mom wasn’t safe, but she was certainly loved.” The family member was taunted, pushed and neglect from meals and activities. The family now recommends cameras to anyone they know with nursing home loved ones. For more, read the story
