Advocates of better nursing home care are pushing to pass a bill that would provide better funding for nursing homes, in an effort to reduce the amount of violations that facilities receive. Some of state survey violations point to understaffing of facilities. Types of violations include medication errors, neglect and spread of disease.
If nursing homes had higher funding, staff could receive better pay and find incentive to remain in healthcare. Currently, many are leaving nursing home care to pursue less stressful and higher paying jobs. The desire is to see funding help retain staff and increase their compensation with the passing of the bill. For more, read the story.
