A nursing home caregiver has been charged with stealing pain medication from patients who were in need of pain relief. The patients were receiving Tylenol, water, and/or mouthwash in place of their prescription pain medication. The nurse was stealing the drugs and denying patients relief from their pain. Some of the patients may not have been able to speak out against her actions. “These are people who needed this medication and may not have been able to communicate that they are in pain,” said a police sergeant on the case.
The former nursing home employee faces charges for illegal possession of prescription drugs, as well as three counts of assault and battery of an elderly person. The ages of the pain medication theft victims are 82, 78, and 71. For more, read the story.
