A certified nursing assistant (CNA) at a nursing home was found guilty of stealing from several patients for whom she cared. Purchases made included a vacation, a personal check to an associate, and a wireless phone company. The total theft amount of all patients totaled $3,950. One victim had a personal check written from his or her account. The bank alerted the patient to alert the police.
The other patient was deceased when the CNA used the patient’s credit card to book a Florida vacation. Police arrested the CNA upon arrival to the airport after vacationing with the patient’s personal credit card. Charges associated with the arrest included identity theft, forgery, and securing a document by deception, among other things. The CNA failed to post bail and awaits a court hearing in the coming weeks for the charges. For more, read the story.
