Nursing Home Case Settles for $875,000

A family recently settled a case with claims of wrongful death and negligence. The family’s loved one was a patient at a nursing home with a choking hazard.  The patient was left with a tray of food and found choking upon the nurse’s return. The nurse attempted the Heimlich and to call other staff, but none came. The patient died as a result.

The family settled the claims for $875,000. “Our family was robbed of the opportunity to properly say goodbye to my father, and while no sum of money will ever make up for our loss, we are hopeful that this settlement will incentivize the nursing home to make some needed changes.” For more, read the story.
