A chain of nursing home facilities have been cited for poor quality care of patients in various areas. One patient fell and showed signs of concern with a head injury suffered from the fall. Although the nursing home claims the doctor was notified within two days, documentation shows it was a total of nine days before the doctor was notified.
Other incidents involved improper bathing, “dried bowel movement” on a shower floor, and a “medication error rate of 11.1 percent”. Additional incidents were noted at other facilities within the same chain including hypothermia from patients sitting out too long, and staff failure to practice evacuation procedures for emergency situations. All facilities say they are correcting issues that were reported by the State Department of health. For more, read the story.
