A chain of nursing homes has a lawsuit pending against them for false advertisement of facility offerings. The facilities advertised clean accommodations and in a comfortable environment with food and water. Instead, the nursing homes are being accused of allowing patients to stay in soiled diapers, or putting residents in diapers due to lack of staffing to aid the residents when transferring to the bathroom.
Other promised under-deliveries include slow response time to call bells, if there was a response at all, falsifying of records, not being dressed in time for meals, lack of turning and re-positioning to ward off bed sores, among others. A number of the issues were allotted to lack of staffing to perform care tasks, such as showering or escorting to meals. The lawsuit includes 25 facilities under the same chain and is seeking $1,000 for every law violation and $3,000 for every violation of care noted involving a resident over 60.
