Nursing Home Cited For Failures Due To Shortage Of Staffing

A nursing home has been cited and fined for failure to maintain the standard of care for patients in its facility due to a shortage of staffing. Patients in the facility were not fed, toileted, or bathed. There were also patients who did not receive insulin shots as ordered and required for treatment.

The nursing home went through changes in administration that led to poor oversight of staffing. The facility had an interim traveling administrator for a period of time before hiring a local permanent employee. During the year the deficiencies in care occurred, the facility made a profit of $1.8 million. For more, read the story.
