Nursing Home Cited For Violations Of Safety And Care

A nursing home has been cited for multiple violations after a patient's mattress caught on fire. The facility director was unaware of the fire, until the fire department called to confirm the alarms indicated a fire. During the process of evacuation, the facility staff failed to count the patients to ensure all were safe as they were evacuated. 

Later the facility was cited for physical and verbal abuse of a patient for smoking on the porch. The cigarette was taken and the employee yelled expletives at the patient. The state conducted surveys at the site identifying violations on each visit. For more, read the story
