A nursing home closed after losing its Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements. The nursing home received countless violations of health and safety and housed the most sex offenders of any facility in the state. The state health department sent repeated letters of non-compliance when the facility failed to correct its health deficiencies. There were 53 violations cited in just 6 months.
“Each time the health department came back…they found the same deficiencies or more deficiencies,” said the state's long term care ombudsman. The state is helping the nursing home patients at the facility find housing due to the facility's closure. For more, read the story.
