Nursing Home Closes After Series Of Violations

A nursing home facility has closed following a series of violations. One of the violations involved a younger 52-year-old resident beating an older 86-year-old resident. The older resident was punched over 50 times according to video surveillance. No staff came to stop the beating and only arrived 30 seconds after the incident was over. The facility has received more violations than any other facility in the state in the past 5 years.

“Recent studies reveal that nursing home residents who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia at a significantly greater risk for becoming victims of neglect or outright abuse. Unfortunately, due to the challenges and characteristics that surround dementia, many cases of abuse or neglect are never detected or reported,” states an attorney. For more, read the story.
