Nursing Home Closes Indefinitely After Years of “Horrific Conditions”

A nursing home facility is receiving public scrutiny after state inspectors found several instances of potential resident abuse and neglect.  According to a police report, one resident at the facility was found with exposed wounds covered in feces that became invested with maggots.  Later at the hospital, the resident’s condition declined and he perished.

In addition to isolated incidents, the facility has been accused of prioritizing cash flow over providing quality care to its residents.  “Whenever the ownership decides to extract large payments for themselves as opposed to using it to pay staff a proper wage, and then you have under-staffing as a result or when you get substandard employees, that’s when the problems start to develop,” said an attorney who handled several lawsuits that named the facility as defendant.  For more, read this story and this article.
