Nursing Home Complaints To Ombudsman Extended To Private Care Facilities

Ombudsman will now hear more complaints from nursing home residents and/or their loved ones regarding quality of care, neglect or abuse concerns. Originally, the ombudsman could hear complaints regarding public nursing homes. However, the powers of this particular ombudsman have been extended to private nursing homes as well. 

“We will look at complaints on behalf of individuals, we’ll see whether somebody suffered some disadvantage as a consequences of a treatment they received – or didn’t get access to a service they should have had,” he said. “And then we’ll put recommendations in place which people will be asked to make appropriate redress.” For more, read the story.
