Nursing Home Death Brings $100,000 Fine

A nursing home was cited for allowing a resident to fall without providing proper care for a patient at a high fall risk. The patient fell and died just 9 days later from blunt force head trauma. The citation brought a class AA level to the nursing home with a fine of $100,000.

“Resident 1 was seen on the floor mat moaning, in a sitting position facing the door, noted with a bump on the right temporal (the side of the head behind the eyes), with the skin intact, and a bluish discoloration,” investigators noted in their report. For more, read the story
