Nursing home patients have been stranded at the hospital after being discharged for health issues. Upon recovery and request to readmit to the nursing home, some patients have been locked into a long-term hospital stay. One patient in particular has been stranded at a hospital for 9 months.
The patient’s daughter is sure the bottom line is money. She believes other patients were chosen over her father that were more lucrative to the facility. The state held a hearing and ruled that the patient should be readmitted to the nursing home, however, the ruling has not been enforced. Seven months after the ruling, he is still in the same hospital.
