Nursing Home Employee Found Guilty of Five Counts of Elder Abuse

One former nursing home employee was found guilty of multiple counts of elder abuse after hidden cameras revealed mistreatment of a resident in her care. The victim’s family planted a video camera in their relative’s room at the nursing home facility after becoming suspicious that their loved one was being abused. The tapes were not played back until after the victim’s death.

The defendant expressed guilt and regret following the jury trial. According to the defendant, she became abusive to restrict the victim from unintentionally harming herself. “Right now I would tell her I love her and I’m sorry for hitting her, shaking her and bruising her hands,” the defendant stated.
