Nursing Home Employee Found Negligent In Patient Death

A nursing home patient died after suffering from 7 seizures in an 11 hour period. The patient received no response from a nurse assigned to his care. The nurse did not provide pain medication or alert a physician, despite family's concerns that were expressed. The patient did not receive any treatment until a new nurse came on duty. However, he died the next day.

“The [alleged perpetrator] did not give any explanation as to why she did not contact the physician or seek additional assistance from the on-call registered nurse to ensure the resident received care for a change in condition,” said the state department's report. The nurse was found negligent in the incident and was fired from her position. For more, read the story
