A former nursing home employee is being put in jail for abusing a resident at the facility where she worked. The woman was fired at the first nursing home where she was employed for pushing a resident with cancer. After being let go from the first nursing home, she received a new job at a different facility by forging a reference. In this new facility she abused a resident who was unable to fend for themselves by throwing them into their chair and bed and repeatedly shouting at them.
Another facility worker reported the abuse and the nursing home employee was immediately let go. While in court the former employee’s defense was that her job was very stressful and that the incident was a one-time occurrence never to happen again. The judge that sent her to prison called her out by saying that the former employee was fully aware of the vulnerable state of the patient and acting out against the resident was being completely inappropriate.
