Three nursing home employees were charged with exploitation of an elderly person after posting a Snap chat video while a patient lay dying in her bed after having a stroke. The nurses were to monitor the patient while waiting for a hospice nurse. Instead they posted a video of the patient while smoking a vape pen and cursing at the camera. The nurses entitled the video “The End”, gesturing lewdly as the patient suffered in the background.
The charges brought against the nurses filming the video were defined as “who knowingly and willfully exploits a disabled adult, elder person, or resident, willfully inflicts physical pain, physical injury, sexual abuse, mental anguish, or unreasonable confinement upon a disabled adult, elder person, or resident, or willfully deprives of essential services a disabled adult, elder person, or resident.” For more, read the story.
