Nursing Home Employees Steal Life Savings from Dementia Patient

A 98-year old patient moved to a new nursing home facility after her bank flagged suspicious activity. The nursing home's employees robbed the patient, who suffers from dementia, of $750,000.00-virtually all her life savings. The nursing home’s business manager and the activity director are charged with one felony count of financial exploitation of an elderly person. The patient has no living relatives and cannot make legal decisions on her own, therefore the county has filed suit on her behalf.

According to the lawsuit, the employees accused allegedly wrote themselves fraudulent checks, withdrew money with the patient’s ATM card, and added their names to her bank account. They even used the money to take vacations, buy new cars, or purchase jewelry. The nursing home fired the accused employees after these allegations. For more on this story, read here.
