Nursing Home Employees To Experience More Stringent Background Checks

Nursing home employees will be undergoing more secure background checks in one state beginning in 2016. Currently, nursing home workers are only required to submit background check applications that only detect in-state offenses. The new background check requirements will involve fingerprinting. The fingerprints will be checked by the FBI to alert employees of any possible offenses nationwide.

The new process has been made possible from years of setup and funding from federal grants. “Protecting the elderly and other individuals residing in these facilities is not only important – it is our duty as state leaders,” said a state legislator. For more, read the story.
