Former employee of a nursing home is speaking out against the facility for improper care of patients. Weeks after starting the new job, the Director of Nursing asked the employee to lie on a state report about the under-staffing in the facility by filling in people’s names in the nursing home's staffing book. The employee explained some of the neglect in the nursing home as, “not getting showers, not getting fed properly, being left in their room, unsanitary conditions, [and] being left in soiled briefs.” After a few months, the employee was suspended and then ultimately fired.
In one circumstance, a doctor called police about the neglect after noticing the patient’s wound had worsened. The doctor asked if the patient was getting out of bed, or if the nurses cleaned the dressings as required. There have also been several complaints about patients left in the beds overnight or all day without nurses checking on them and instances of patients falling out of lifts from improper transfers.
