A nursing home has been fined more than $60,000 for incidents causing harm to patients, including placing patients in “immediate jeopardy”. One patient in immediate jeopardy had gangrene to the point that maggots were crawling around the site of infection. A toe had to be amputated from the patient. Other lapses in medical care occurred, leading to the high fine amount.
The facility has a history of citations for poor quality care. New ownership assumed leadership a few years prior to the recent citations. However, the facility is still struggling to provide positive care. For more, read the story.
