Nursing Home Facility Loses Funding, Closing For Good

Nursing home patients are searching for other facilities to live with the recent news that the facility they call home will be closing for good. The facility closing is based on deficiencies leading to a point of no return resulting in loss of funding for patients. Without the state aid, patients cannot afford to pay and the facility cannot afford to remain open.

There are mixed responses to the closing. “My mother wept on her way out,” a daughter said of her mother. “She asked, ‘What about the man with no legs? What’s going to happen to him?’ Everyone here cares about each other.” However, others offered perspective into the reason for the closing. “The overall care (at Golden) is good if you or your loved one is not directly affected by the deficiency. Many of the residents were unaware because they never had a single problem,” Geary said. “The people who were affected and complained feel vindicated. It’s a matter of perspective.” For more, read the story
