One nursing home was slapped with a wrongful death lawsuit after allegations that a patient in the facility died from an overdose of insulin. The patient had diabetes, and nurses at this facility were ordered by a physician to monitor and document her blood sugar. When the patient’s blood sugar was low, she was to be administered insulin, per the lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleges the nurses administered large quantities of insulin over time without regard to what the patient’s new levels were. The suit also alleges the nurses did not properly communicate and/or document between other staff pertinent medical information regarding this patient. For more, read the story.
