Upon finding a bedsore on her mother just 4 weeks after admission, the daughter of a patient alerted the state regarding the sore. The patient was noted to have a 3 to 4 inch pressure sore on her mother and nearly passed out when she saw it. “If she had gotten a little bedsore, I wouldn't have said anything,” said the patient's daughter. “Hers was humongous. This was plain neglect. They could have stopped it.”
Based upon a survey investigation, the facility was cited and fined $25,000 for allowing the bedsore to develop. The patient was then transferred to another facility where the daughter stated they consistently turned and repositioned her mother and were “wonderful”. Her mother still died a few months later.
