A nursing home has been fined one of the 10 largest fines nationally in the past 3 years. The fine amounting to $675,750 makes up part of the total $782,250 the facility was fined after deficiencies were found on two separate health inspections. The deficiency yielding the highest of the fines involved a patient who was allowed to develop “wounds that went down to the bone with exposed tendons”.
In addition to the fines, the facility also lost its license. The other fine resulted from failure to administer pain medication for 12 hours to a patient after a major surgery, yielding a $106,500 fine. For more, read the story.
