Nursing Home Fined $90,000 For Improper Supervision; Man Died After Unsupervised Fall

A nursing home is
facing its state’s stiffest penalty after investigators found
the facility did not adequately protect a 92-year-old resident from a
fatal fall.

The 120-bed nursing home received a $90,000 fine for
the 2007 death of a retired businessman.

A
state report found staff at the nursing home failed to check on the man as often as his chart recommended.

The
state said the man’s death certificate listed his cause of death as
accidental from falling down on his head in the bathroom.

The nursing home administrator said that the man’s care was
supervised under a previous leadership team at the home. For more, read the story.
