Nursing Home Fined After Administering Wrong Doses of Medications to Patients

Health officials in one state have fined a nursing home after it failed to provide patients with prescribed doses of medication for heart disease, dementia and other conditions.According to the report, the 190-bed facility, listed 18 patients who received wrong doses of the drugs prescribed to them over the previous three to four months. In total, several hundred doses had not been administered as prescribed.

The Public Health Department fined the facility $3,00 for the violation. The facility released a statement saying its own internal investigation uncovered concerns about the administration of medication. The center said it notified the Department of Health and cooperated in the state’s investigation. For more, read the story.
