A nursing home has been fined $25,000 for allowing a patient to fall out of bed and failing to properly assess the patient after the fall. Days later, the patient had to be transported to the hospital. The patient had a fever of 103 degrees and abdominal pain with vomiting.
The surgical site where the patient had amputation surgery weeks earlier reopened and the wound became infected. The nursing home would not respond with the current state of the patient, which is currently unknown. For more, read the story.
