Nursing Home Greenhouse Benefits Patients

One nursing home has become the first in its state to introduce a greenhouse on the facility property for patients. The nursing home patients are able to go to relax, enjoy plants and flowers, and remember those they have lost. “I come out here and i'm not depressed, my blood sugar is down, I just feel really; it smells good in here, it's cool in here and we can see what grows,” says one nursing home patient.

“This offers a place for them to come, get away from everything, relax, not have to think about anything. It gives them something to care for, something extra to think about and show off ,” says the nursing home's activity director. For more, read the story
