Nursing Home Incident Cover Up Results In $11,000 Fine

A veterans nursing home facility has recently been fined over $11,000 for covering up a patient incident. The nursing home received a citation regarding the incident among other citations for incidents including theft of residents and a patient with bed sores. The facility was already operating under a provisional license due to earlier citations.

Two nursing home employees were involved in the cover up. One nurse’s aide transferred a resident and allowed the patient to receive a gash and 8 stitches in the patient’s leg. The other nurse’s aid lied to say she helped transfer the resident, when in fact she did not and later admitted the truth. “The resident firmly stated only one male nurse aide was present during the incident,” the report states.
