Three facilities have allowed patients to fall or develop pressure sores. The state department of health has fined and cited the facilities for violating standards of care with the patients allowed to suffer injuries due to negligence of care. Nursing home employees were inserviced regarding care measures to be taken with patients related to circumstances of the incidents.
Documentation for patients who fell showed that the doctor had not been notified of one patient's fall, and another patient had not been properly assessed for fall risks. The patient with the bed sore lacked records of weekly skin checks being properly performed. For more, read the story.
