Nursing Home Inspected Following Discovery of Maggots on One Resident

One State’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has plan to visit a nursing home after a resident was found to have wounds infested with maggots. According to the DHHS, the facility informed the department about the incident and their plan of corrective action.

The facility where the incident occurred is a 74-bed facility affiliated with a nearby hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said that larvae were found on the resident during a regular check. The previous check, 12 hours before, had no signs of larvae. All residents at the facility were closely examined after the discovery.  For more, read the story.
