Nursing Home Lawsuit Cites Two Wrongful Deaths

Two families have lost loved ones at the same nursing home, leading to lawsuits against the facility. Both deaths of patients at the nursing home were allegedly avoidable if they had been handled with proper care. One patient suffered from a fall, that went unreported, was not turned and repositioned as often as necessary, and was overly medicated when combative. A doctor told the family to remove the patient from the home due to poor care. The patient died the next day.

A second patient was suffering from a UTI, pneumonia and bed sores was taken to the hospital, where a doctor said they were the worst bed sores ever seen. The patient died 11 days later. The nursing home has a history of issues, however, family members noted it was difficult to identify that, because the home changed its name recently, preventing recognition of the old name with the history of patient neglect.
