Nursing Home Medication Error Results In $4,750 FIne

A nursing home investigation led to a director’s probation and fines in the amount of $4,750. The nursing home was cited 19 times for failing to administer prescribed medication to a patient. The patient was supposed to receive a blood thinner for a blood clot. The patient had to be hospitalized due to the lack of medication.

The total fine was composed of $250 fines for each dosage the nursing home staff failed to administer. The nursing home director said she was out of town while the issues occurred. She was put on six months of probation due to the errors. For more, read the story.
