A nursing home neglect case decision has been overturned by the Supreme Court in favor of the plaintiff stating that there is cause for proof that neglect did occur with a patient at the nursing home. The family of the patient stated that the patient was allowed to develop a UTI infection and that it went untreated. The patient died as a result.
The defendants attempted to prove that the patient died from sepsis rather than incapacity. However, the test used to identify cause for accusation of neglect was ruled to be unrelated to the health issues the patient was facing. For more, read the story.
