Nursing Home Neglect Leads To Patient In ICU

A nursing home chain has been under fire recently after a woman was sent to ICU based on her husband’s action upon seeing her deteriorate in just a matter of 2 days. “We visited her on Monday, to find her sitting in a wheelchair in a seemingly catatonic state, trembling uncontrollably, mumbling jibberish with her eyes rolling back in her head,” her husband recalled. “My two children and I had last visited her Saturday, two days prior, and left her in good spirits. She was fine. We were shocked to see her in this condition.”

The nursing home was going to send the woman to a hospital 45 minutes away, but there was a hospital across the street. The husband of the nursing home patient called 911 and had her sent to the nearest hospital. She was suffering from pneumonia, dehydration, and a dangerously low body temperature of 80 degrees. She was in ICU for weeks, but only made it to the hospital because of her husband’s actions. For more, read the story
