Nursing Home Nurse Charged With Abuse For Tying Patient's Legs Together

A nursing home certified nursing assistant has been charged with abuse of a patient after tying the patient's feet together with a plastic bag. The nurse initially stated that the patient performed the restraint on herself. However, she later admitted to tying the patient's legs together herself in order to keep the patient from climbing out of bed.

“Nursing home residents are among our state’s most vulnerable citizens and they, along with their families, should be assured of their safety in a nursing facility,” the state attorney general said. “Health care workers have a solemn responsibility to properly care for their patients, and my office will continue to prosecute any allegations of abuse or mistreatment.” For more, read the story
