Nursing Home Nurse Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter

A nursing home nurse has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, neglect and records tampering. The nurse allowed a patient to fall and hit his head. She then failed to provide him with a series of neurological exams. In order to give the appearance the exams had been provided, the nurse falsified records saying the exams had been done.

Policy required the patient to be monitored every 15 minutes for the first hour after his fall and every hour for the next three hours. The patient died just eight hours after falling. The nurse admitted to falsifying records, but is pleading not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges. For more, read the story
